The USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals class is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to responsibly carry and use a concealed firearm for self-defense, as well as how to effectively defend their home in a critical situation. This class is appropriate for individuals who are new to concealed carry or have some experience and want to build upon their skills.
Throughout the course, students will learn about firearm safety, selection, and handling, as well as the legal and ethical considerations of using a firearm in self-defense. Students will also learn about situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and the use of force continuum.
In addition, students will engage in practical exercises that simulate real-life self-defense scenarios, including drawing from a concealed holster, shooting from various positions, and engaging multiple targets. Students will also learn how to secure and defend their home against intruders.
The USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals class is taught by certified instructors with extensive experience in concealed carry and home defense. Students who successfully complete the class will receive a certificate of completion, which is recognized by the USCCA.

- Developing a Personal and Home Protection Plan. The human weapon interface is paramount to good shooting.
- Self-Defense Firearm Basics. Working for pinpoint accuracy at distance or blazing fast to burn a tango down are two different things. There exists no one solution for all problems.
- Defensive Shooting Fundamentals. We will help you develop a smooth and consistent draw and above all else a safe draw. Reloading techniques. Just like trigger work there is no single solution for all problems.
- The Legal Use of Force.
- Violent Encounters and their Aftermath Should you shoot and move or take the shot? Considerations for carry weapons, ammunition and gear.

We will cover firearms safety, defensive shooting fundamentals, state firearms law, the proper mindset for defending yourself, the levels of awareness, cover & concealment and strategies to use during a violent attack, dealing with the aftermath of a shooting, cleaning your firearm and how to deal with stress during a dynamic critical incident.

Frequently Asked Questions
For classes requiring time on the range, we like to tell clients coming to dress in layers. Bring slacks or pants with belt loops wide enough for a sturdy belt. A short sleeved shirt under a long sleeved shirt with a jacket that opens down the front.
Comfortable and sturdy shoes or hiking boots. Wearing layers enables you to take a layer off as the weather warms throughout the day. A hat with a brim that is comfortable with the hearing protection you will be wearing.
NOTE: If there is no range time required please dress comfortably as you will be in a classroom setting for the duration of the class.
Most people find that trying to leave at lunchtime is impractical. It is recommended to bring a lunch with you.
